Drill To Switch To A Body Swing vs. Arms Swing
In this tip I am showing you a drill you can do to switch to a body swing vs. and arms swing. If you want to learn the powerful, effortless, pain-free swing that I teach you need to hit the ball with your body not your arms. To do that, you need to change the way you think.
I say this because in golf the ball is stationary. This means that as you reach the top of your backswing you will try to hit hard with your arms. This is due to human nature telling you to hit the ball hard with your arms. This is not what pros are doing and will never work. So a body swing vs. and arms swing is the way to go.
So here is a drill you can to switch to a body swing vs arms swing. This is not a drill to hi...

Easy Way To Loosen Up (Do This Before Each Shot)
Просмотров 32 тыс.8 месяцев назад
So many golfers I see are too tight before they hit their shots. I got thinking about this not too long ago and this is just an easy way to loosen up before each shot. Everyone marvels at an effortless golf swing. It looks simple and easy and hits the ball a mile usually straight. So everyone knows this swing and wants this swing so what do they do? They step up and try to hammer it as hard as ...
Are You Too Tight In Your Backswing (Here's How To Check)
Просмотров 25 тыс.8 месяцев назад
So many golfers I see are too tight as they go into their backswing. If you are tight going back how do you loosen up on the way down? If you are too tight going back you will be too tight as you hit the ball. This tightness leads to locking your wrists, sending you over the top, causes a chicken wing which adds loft etc. Here's a simple way you can check if you are too tight as you go in the b...
What Is Your Downswing Trigger? (You Better Have One)
Просмотров 31 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Do you have downswing trigger? You better have one. This is what you should be using to hit every shot. It is something you use to fire your legs and hips. There are many different downswing triggers I teach so you need to choose one. Most golfers are literally just whacking away at the ball solely with their arms. If you are doing this how are you ever going to use your body to hit the ball? Y...
Get Distance For Life (Looser = Faster)

Everyone wants more distance right? They sure do. What if you could get distance for life though wouldn't that be great? Well I'm here to tell you that you can get more distance for life you just have to learn how to do it. The main key is to be super loose. Something that is looser swings faster than something that is tighter. That is just a fact. So if that is the case then why not swing loos...
Senior Golfers (Get Your Body Moving For More Distance)
Просмотров 39 тыс.9 месяцев назад
One of the biggest issues I see with senior golfers is that they hit the ball solely with their arms. As we get older we get weaker so this hitting only leads to less and less distance. This tip shows senior golfers how to get their body moving for more distance. I came up with this tip after seeing Mike Austin and Wild Bill Mehlhorn talk about using their lower body as the power source. Once I...

Understanding & Fixing A Chicken Wing (Better Fix This)
Просмотров 17 тыс.10 месяцев назад
One of the most common swing flaws in 80 to 90 percent of all golfer's swings is a chicken wing. This tip allows you to finally understand and fix a chicken wing. So why is a chicken wing so bad? Well, it narrows your swing arc losing you distance. It adds loft onto your clubs losing you distance. It causes twisting of the face which makes you inconsistent. Those are some pretty bad things. This drill really is amazing Paul. For me it really helps facilitate that separation with the hips, because I need to use the hips to fling the club off. Also It seamlessly works with a drill you have in your indoor body swing section where you touch the traps and then you extend your arm to get that nice thumbs towards the ear position. So I'll do the lag drill three times in a row and on the fourth time I'll extend my arm then swing and try to maintain that feeling of lag. I film myself doing drills, and recently I noticed I was casting the club, so I figured I needed to work on lag, and of course you had the perfect fix. Just doing this drill a bunch of times has totally cured it. I watch back video of me in slo-mo and I'm over-the-moon because I can't believe the positions I'm achieving. Can't thank you enough Paul.

    • @paulwilsongolf

      Yes, this is a good one for sure. The problem is getting people to do it for more than 3 tries. Mind boggling that people want lag. I show them how to get it in minutes and they don't do it. Sir, in my case, my chicken wing is from early "release", i.e., "helping it with my hands", and in order to NOT hit it fat, I stand up and chicken wing-it! Hogan's head dropped 4" on average between address and impact (from bending and pushing off his back foot to initiate the swing)... I actually stand UP! (to compensate for early release). Thanks for all you do and share. I'm a disciple and a Body Swing man. Recently I have had a lot of success using a very narrow stance, even with long clubs. It greatly facilitates my "body swing", slows me down, and just generally makes the swing seem "easy" (in several senses of the word). My ball contact, direction, distance, and consistency have all improved. It has worked through numerous practice sessions and several rounds of golf. When I say narrow, I mean between about four to eight inches (with driver) clear between my heels. Any advice or comments about this? Between too wide and too narrow is it better to err on the narrow side of stance width?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf 5 дней назад

      I do this as a drill sometimes. If you had your feet together you would have one axis which makes it real easy versus spreading them apart. For you to be a few inches apart you are closer to 1 axis so it works great. I say if you are going to have the wrong stance always be more narrow than wide so you are on the right track. Keep doing it.

      Well, as you hit your shots you should be focused on the target. The more you focus on a tighter spot (leaf on a tree not the whole tree) the more you forget about your swing so yes, this would work on full swings too.

      @@paulwilsongolf Paul - Do you have a video on hitting out of fairway bunkers? I checked, but didn't see one. Thanks again for your help!

      I do not. This is part of my membership site with over 1300 tips posted. I don't give everything away. It's basically your real swing. Don't dig in too deep. Grip down 1/2 inch. Head still. Take one more club. Over 8 iron play for a fade.

      @@paulwilsongolf Excellent Paul. Thanks! That was the one major question I had involving your feet and whether or not to choke down on the club. Much appreciated!

    Can you apply this to driver even though you need to swing up?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf 6 дней назад

      It's a drill. Some.people.have done it with driver. Try it and see how it goes for you.

    I hit the same way now Paul and what a huge difference and more relaxed I am.. quick question though.. you always hear everyone saying swing speed this and swing speed that.. where does the swing speed come from without using you arms? Even though this looks slower is the actual driver traveling faster?

    Thank you, thank you!! It works unbelievably well. Even if I didn't hole it, it helped lagged really well, usually 3 feet or less left. 30 or 40 feet away still worked great. Thanks again for sharing this tip. LOL, I'm gonna say it....Holly crap, it worked GREAT.

    Once you make the full turn do you lift slightly with the arms? Thank you!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf 6 дней назад

      Yes. You need to lift the club and set your wrist hinge. After you keep doing it and loosen your wrists it should go up there on its own.

    This helped me a lot but there was one thing i had to figure out on my own to get this to work every time for me and that was making sure my weight was completely on my front foot. Adding your instuctions with proper weight shift is a game changer!

    I've been hitting 4 iron so much that I can't hit my driver anymore. I'm sad, because I use to smoke the ball.

      Easy to fix. Start with that tip. Keep me posted. I can get you back in no time. I see to teelm off with 3 iron many years ago so I can feel your pain. Be sure to have a more neutral grip.

    I don't know if you get enough credit for it Paul, but your short game stuff is absolutely brilliant. I'm so glad I picked up your swing machine golf series. I actually get excited when I miss a green now because I'm like oh boy I get to use Paul's chipping (or pitching ) technique and I'm amazed at some of the shots I've been making lately. I feel confident like I can handle any situation. You've given me a complete game to work on and I'm rapidly improving. Thank you!

      Glad you found me and glad you came to the realization something has to change. Most never do. Start with neutral grip, don't tilt too much at set up. Super loose wrists. Then power it with legs and hips.

      @@paulwilsongolf You're not wrong about it all. Obviously. Which explains why the more I play, the worse I play. The more i play, the more tense I must get, the more I try to control the ball....rather than focusing on the body and wrists being relaxed. Golf is a serious mind game. Everything is opposite.

    Paul is the best at keeping it simple, By the way this really works. What I need Paul, is for you to put out a video on how to get rid of the yips when chipping (especailly short chips, the ones you need to just get over the collar 1 or 2 yards in the air). You do that Paul and a nice bottle of Bourbon will arrive in the mail for you to enjoy with some mates. 😊😊

    This causes me the most anxiety when I’m at the range and we’re hitting off grass. My damn fat shots makes it look like I brought a back hoe to the range not a set of clubs. I get so embarrassed cause I’m spraying dirt all over the people around me. Ugh I gotta remember if my back foot is lifting then my weight is shifting.

    • @paulwilsongolf

      These shots are so easy to fix. Since 1991 literally ball 1 the person is fixed. Remember it then try it. Then remember it for the future so you can easily fix them.

    Paul, i recently started hitting 5-6:fat/thin shots per round. I have even moved up in tees and am hitting more loft into greens, but I’m still doing it. I’m a 12:handicap. It dawned on me that I quite often don’t remember seeing the club actually strike the ball. I am not a beginner either. Any thoughts? It’s driving me crazy!

      Fat shots: ruclips.net/video/UwynwFBldv4/видео.html Thin shots are you trying to hit too hard. Slow down to 50%. Loosen your arms and no more fat shots.

    • @paulwilsongolf

      Why do you want a flat left wrist at the top? You need slight cupping relative to a 2 knuckle grip. I talk about it here: ruclips.net/video/uRWI8Mhnsa8/видео.html
